Salaam everyone!

While Pride month for many of us can be a joyful celebration of how far we have come as a society, we also remember our brothers and sisters in the US and around the world who still struggle against oppression based on sexuality, gender, class, nationality, race, ethnicity, or religious identities. We will give our respect to Imam Muhsin Hendricks from South Africa for the love he shared with all of us and his communities. A life tragically cut short. Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhii raaji’un.

Join us for a virtual gathering on a Saturday morning! Feel free to cozy up to the Zoom call with coffee or tea, be part of our community, and hang out. Being virtual, we hope to see members and new faces from across the greater Bay Area (or farther afield).

We will discuss how we are feeling going into Pride month as Muslims. We will have some questions prepared to dive deeper into issues affecting our community and LGBGQIA+ inclusion, but will use the opening go-around to see if those present have any particular issues they would like to see discussed. We will share resources from MPV and other community organizations, and can watch some clips of Muhsin Hendricks from his presentations or documentary film.
