Daisy Khan is the founder and executive director of the Women’s Islamic Initiative in Spirituality and Equality (WISE), a women-led organization committed to peacebuilding, equality, and justice for Muslims around the globe. She has dedicated her life to promoting an expression of Islam based on cultural and religious harmony.

Born and raised during her early years in Kashmir, Dr. Khan emigrated to the United States as a teenager. Since 1997, she has provided premarital counseling and logistical support for Muslim and interfaith-Muslim couples. In 2004, Dr. Khan became the first Muslim woman officiant in America.

Dr. Khan has been listed among Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People and was ranked among the “Top Ten Women Faith leaders” by The Huffington Post. She received a doctorate in Interfaith Ministry from The New Seminary in NY and is ordained as an interfaith minister. You can read more about her story in her 2018 memoir, Born with Wings: the Spiritual Journey of a Modern Muslim Woman. Her latest book “30 Rights of Muslim Women” enables women to integrate an egalitarian Islamic belief system into their lives.

Dr. Khan is an excellent choice for couples seeking a tailored ceremony that honors Muslim traditions within the modalities of an American cultural expression. Her ceremony is designed to appeal to Muslim as well as interfaith audiences.
