Omair paul

Omair Paul is a Pakistani American born and raised in New York City. He completed his bachelor’s degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo, having majored in Social and Cultural Anthropology with a minor in South Asian studies. His focus was on history, culture, theology, philosophy, linguistics, and gender/queer theories. He completed his master’s degree in Human Rights Studies at the Institute for the Study of Human Rights at Columbia University in New York, focusing on the interrogation of what factors drive and enable the economic and social exclusion of sexual and gender minorities in Pakistan.

He is the Policy Officer for Human Rights with the Major Group for Children and Youth, and is consulting with Muslims for Progressive Values, previously having represented the organization at the UN. His focal areas of work and research pertain to gender equality and women's empowerment, the human rights of LGBTQI+ people and non-discrimination, countering fundamentalist religious ideologies, and youth empowerment and engagement.
