Harriet Lewis

TRUSTEE

Dr. Harriet Lewis is a Gen Xer. One of her earliest memories of social exclusion was at the age of six, when she witnessed a girl being taunted and rejected because she was different.  That memory stayed with her, and as life and humanity goes, similar experiences would be repeated over the years with different perpetrators, victims, and bystanders. Those experiences and many others activated her to be engaged in work that furthered social change and social justice. She likes to say that she tries to support individuals in their journey of “being” and “becoming”.   Two seemingly simple words that are truly transformative to people who have been denied the right to “be” and “become”.

Dr. Lewis is also a serial social entrepreneur, and is the Founder/CEO of Konesens Development, a boutique consultancy that supports equity and inclusion through research, reporting, and capacity-building for organizations committed to furthering environmental sustainability and social cohesion. She has worked in the research, and community and economic development spaces for over 25 years, and has led organizations that served women, refugees, youth, and small business owners. She holds a master’s degree in Public Administration and a doctorate in Human Services.

Finally, she believes that there is a creative somewhere in her trying to get out, so has started engaging paint with the canvas. When she can align calendars with her husband and two children, Dr. Lewis enjoys bowling and traveling with her family.
