Past Events

Jerusalem Peacemakers

MPV is sponsoring an event with Jerusalem Peacemakers and Pilgrimage of Peace entitled “Elevating the Sparks of Peace: Stories of Hope and Reconciliation From the Holy Land.” This event will feature a presentation by Jeruasalem Peacemakers’ Eliyahu McLean. You’ll also have a chance to hear the inspiring experiences of recent Pilgrimage of Peace travelers, including Vanessa Karam and Father Wilfredo Benitez, Rector of St. Anselm’s of Canterbury Church.

Eliyahu and his group of wonderful interfaith peace makers were an essential element in the success of the recently returned Pilgrimage of Peace, which included MPV Interfaith Coordinator Vanessa Karam. At a time of ongoing turmoil in the Holy Land, Eliyahu’s voice of compassion and communication is more important than ever. He is unflagging in his commitment to spiritual reconciliation for peace, and will surely help shine a light for the many of us exposed only to the darkness portrayed by the media.

Movie Screening: Football Under Cover
OutFest Movie Festival | July 14 (7:00pm) and July 18 (9:45pm), 2008 | Los Angeles, CA

MPV is proud to co-sponsor a screening of the award-winning and inspiring movie Football Under Cover at OutFest 2008. Meet some of the world's most passionate soccer players -- Iranian women. They train (fully covered) and trash talk like any self-respecting girl jocks, but they've never played a competitive match until a determined German women's team challenges them to a friendly game in Tehran. Culminating in a thrilling match, Football Under Cover captures a small yet significant moment of equality for these women.
