Welcome to
Muslims for Progressive Values!

Muslims for Progressive Values (MPV) seeks to bring together progressive Muslims and friends who share their values to work for a more humane world. We welcome all who are interested in discussing, promoting and working for the implementation of progressive values — social justice, human rights, economic opportunity, and separation of church and state — as well as tolerant and inclusive understandings of Islam.

MPV is an authentic Islamic voice. We're not trying to change or reform Islam -- instead, we want to change the way many Muslims think about our own religion. We believe that Islam is perfectly compatible with progressive social views, and millions of Muslims in the United States and around the world agree. We invite you to take a look around, to join our discussion group or mailing list, or to meetup with likeminded Muslims and others in informal groups around the country.

The Prophet Muhammad said,
"My community will never agree on an error." 1

In the spirit of the Prophet, then, don't be shy to tell us what you think -- we recognize that there are many different ways of thinking about and understanding Islam, and we don't have a monopoly on the truth. Join us as we work together to promote a theologically sound framework for Islamic liberalism.
